In a year marked by significant Covid-related limitations, particularly affecting international travel, London's Oxford Street received more visitors than any of Europe's top 34 locations.
Meanwhile, Regent Street, which is right next door, has surpassed Bond Street as Europe's most popular luxury shopping destination.
The pan-European analysis analyzes footfall on prime retail streets in 34 European significant cities, including Europe's top 20 capital cities, in order to "give a picture of pedestrian traffic, which is one of the core markers to measure the strength of physical retail."
Oxford Street attracted 72,700 people on a sample day across those 20 capital areas, according to footfall data. With a daily footfall of 60,800, it topped out Gran Va in Madrid for second place.
