Gucci has just released a new bag with an old-school vibe.

GUCCI

If you saw the House of Gucci film, you're probably still swooning over Lady Gaga's character, Patrizia Reggiani, and her heritage bags. While the film featured archival pieces, Gucci is known for modernizing their classic pieces through new releases. Alessandro Michele, Gucci's Creative Director, is a master at creating designs that are functional enough to hold both your modern belongings and their historical significance. Michele has found inspiration in Gucci's vault of treasures and is now blessing customers with a new bag: the Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag.

While an interlocking GG clasp and canvas logo print are common identifiers for Gucci bags, one of the brand's most significant historical identifiers is the bamboo handle. When traditional raw materials were scarce in the post-war era, Gucci began incorporating bamboo handles into bag designs in 1947 (hence the name of the new bag).

It didn't take long for the handles to become popular for their durability and aesthetics, and the house's new Gucci Bamboo 1947 bag taps into the same appeal that first propelled the brand's bamboo styles to fame—but with a modern twist.
