From a child's shoe boutique to a breakthrough luxury brand, a representation of minimal and elegant designs, and an iconic brand in the fashion luxury world, Gucci has gone from strength to strength.
Céline Vipiana and her husband Richard opened a small business in Paris near the end of WWII in 1945, specializing in custom-made children's shoes for upper-middle-class French families.
Vipiana's success is immediate, and the company expands its shoe manufacture to include leather items, as well as opening three more locations across the country.
It's the 1960s, and Celine has established itself as one of the great fashion houses, thanks to its founder's foresight, with its magnificent prêt-à-porter line for active and career women, as well as its one-of-a-kind perfume and accessory collections. Combining minimalism in design with a fashionable and classy flare is a simple but powerful notion.
